Chemistry is the science to understand chemical reactions, interactions, changes, composition, structure and properties of matter and its constituents and states. It also studies the relationship between matter and energy associated with chemical changes. It relates to Physics on the one hand and Life Sciences on the other.

Chemistry is thought to be derived from alchemy, an ancient practice in quest for transforming ordinary materials into valuable material like gold. The word alchemy in turn is derived from the Arabic word al-kimia which is said to have its root in Greek. Interestingly, there is a Sanskrit phrase Kim iti (किम इति)meaning 'wherefore?', 'why (this)? 'or 'what is this?' Kimiagiri( किमियागिरी ) is the Sanskrit for alchemy.

Ecology is the scientific study of the relationships that living organisms have with each other and with their natural environment. It deals with the composition, distribution, amount, number, and changing states of organisms within and among ecosystems. Ecosystems are composed of dynamically interacting parts including organisms, the communities they make up, and the non-living components of their environment.

Mathematics deals with logical reasoning to understand everything in our realm including quantities, relations, change, space, time, energy, entropy, shape, dimension, infinity, nothingness, motion, inertia, reality, virtual entities, irrationality, chaos, order and so on by defining, theorising, forming axioms and conjectures. Albert Einstein's observation that "as far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality" is poignant.

The word mathematics is derived from Greek máthēma which means 'learning'. The word máthēma is derived from Greek μανθάνω (manthano). Interestingly, 'manthan' (मन्थन) in Sanskrit means churning as also analysis.

Physics is the study of the physical world, its composition in terms of matter, energy, time and space, their interactions and patterns of behaviour. Physics is derived from ancient Greek physis meaning "nature". Electron microscope to Hubble telescope, nanobots to space ships, all those technologies by which you are able to read this on your computer, our daily life and its comforts, commutes and gadgets- all owe it to Physics.
